Where can I find how much fructose different vegetables have? My friends ds has been diagnosed with a fructose allergy but he's not been on solids long so he hasn't tried a lot of vegetables. He has so far reacted to all fruits sweet potato, parsnip and I think carrot.

I didnt think vegetables had fructose, thought it was added to meal to substitute sugar. My ds2 had loads allergies as a baby, spent 1st 10 months of his life a permanent bright red blotch! Also ended up in hospital after facial and mouth swelling (to twice its size !) At 10 months old he woke up and wasnt as blotchy as usual, by tea time everything was almost cleared up, he never reacted again!!! Bizarre!!

I've just done google search on fructose allergy - quite interesting. Your friends ds mustve had quite a few tests.

website mentioned that. It said fructose intolerance means your body is lacking in enzymes needed to break down the fructose, not allergic to the actual fructose. Im sure there'll be a site which lists good and bad foods, so happy hunting!

i know i never realised how much stuff has fructose in. for instance bread - i never knew that did. and loads of vegetables have quite a lot of it which i didn't expect. in fact are there any that don't? she's found out what the recommended ones are too eat but the problems haven't completely gone. she doesn't have the internet so i have been doing a bit of research for her and i am definitely glad it's not something i have. poor you cali... how do you cope with it

obviously you can't stop eating all vegetables cos you would be ill. which are the ones that don't produce too much of a reaction?

right will remember the potatoes and mushrooms!!

can you eat anything like broccoli (is chinese any different to normal?), runner beans, rocket, lettuce etc? and are there worse reactions to different types of lettuce cos there are so many aren't there.
