Should I speak to a Nutritionist?

I have food intolerances which I am finding very difficult to balance and deal with. I am reading all labels but I am findng that one or other of what I am intolerant to is in a product.

List of allergies:
Dairy
Eggs (white and yolk)
Yeast
Wheat

I have done the whole thing of elimination and know that they all play havoc with my system

But I am finding it difficult to find products that are totally free of my allergants - egg drives me totally insane as does yeast but Yeast Extract seems to be in everything.

Really fed up with not being able to grab a snack when I need it cos I know I will suffer as a result

My children are now picking up on what "I can and can't have".

My sister is coeliac so easily dealt with but I just find unless I eat v plain and watch labels I am in trouble - symptoms are chronic abdominal pain and diahorrea within 15-20 mins of consuming. Sometimes barely making the loo.

DH and I were talking about recent "designer" intolerances but he said to me "no your's are real" he has seen what I have gone through in the last 6 years.

Would a nutritionist help???

i dunno about nutritionists, but my DS1 has recently seen a dietitian. he is almost 7 yrs and has an intolerance to all 'cow' products, and a generally sensitive tummy. I neeeded to know that he is getting a balanced enough diet for a child of his age as he is also anaemic. Oh, and i know what you mean about grrr at the ones saying 'intolerance fads', who on earth would choose to have the symptoms?

anyway, the dietitian gave us all sorts of information and although five years of dairy-free diet means that i knew a lot of it, there were some real gems of info in there. they also have examples of actual foods which are DF / GF etc.
HTH!

BTW, we only waited 3 weeks from referral to appointment, don't know if that is the norm but we were quite pleased with it

have a look at the special eeds section for advice on enzymes that help digest casein and wheat. You might feel they were worth a try. Sounds like you could still snack on fruit or dried fruit and even on seeds or nuts. If you can tolerate oats make flapjack.
