What hay fever tablets do you use? Rather stupidly, I've only just realised that most hayfever tablets have lactose I them.

Lactose is a sugar
If you can't have dairy then it's normally the protein that's the issue

They all seem to contain lactose.

Are you allergic to milk protein or lactose?

Go and interrogate your pharmacist, they are great and trained to sort stuff like this.

Or you could try a liquid version instead of a tablet

Benadryl Allergy Liquid Release

Are you sure it is lactose and not cows milk protein you are sensitive to?

dementedpixie · 11/04/2021 09:35

Benadryl does a liquid capsule but a liquid version in a bottle will likely be much cheaper

Although it is milk sugar, Lactose can contain minute traces of milk protein.

It is not a good idea for someone who is already suffering an allergic reaction, and who is allergic to milk, to take a medication that may, however unlikely, contain traces of milk.

OP, we use piriton syrup. I decant it into those little brown pill bottles for ease of carrying around.
