Lenor Unstoppables Hives Allergic Reaction

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help.
My little one has came up with hives all over her body and swollen eyes after using Lenor Unstoppables. Has anyone else experienced this? She’s been to hospital today and been prescribed some eye drops and antihistamines.

I’m just wondering what everyone else’s experience was and how long it took for skin to go back to normal?

TIA x

Hi, my DS can't tolerate any fabric conditioner at all. All his stuff is just washed with fairy non-bio, and quite a small amount (or I click on extra rinsing).
Last time he had hives (after wearing dressing up clothes at school!) it took about 24 hours for the to go down properly. That was with antihistamines.
Hope she's back to normal soon.

Yes I'd say about 24 hours with antihistamines too. We only use Lidl's non-bio. I tried a little first before I bought a huge amount but thankfully we're all fine with it.

Clothes don't have the same smell as you get with fabric conditioner but I'd rather not have a rash Smile

It must have been really scary for you. Hope she will recover soon.
It's common thing to avoid any fabric softener and only use non bio detergent for people with allergies/eczema. My dc would have skin reaction to fairy even they are non- bio ones too. So, it's difficult to find the one that's ok for your child. But bottom line is, avoid anything with added fragrances, and use minimal amount and rinse off plenty.

As an eczema sufferer and my DC having it too I have never used biological powder or fabric conditioner as I know they are problematic. But I don't know the product you refer to so I'm not sure what it is - I hope I haven't got the wrong end of the stick! With eczema associated with hay fever and asthma we are more likely to have allergic reactions. The only time I had hives in the last few years it was a reaction to nuts (I think Brazil nuts specifically). I ate a n ut roast and can generally tolerate nuts but there was something about this one made by a friend that set me off. I got hives all over my body. They were large throbbing patches of red skin - happily on the outside of my body not in my throat. Well at least I managed to take some antihistamines before it got to my face and mouth. I simply took the hay fever tablets I had in the house. The hives disappeared in an hour or two with no ongoing or lasting effects.

It m might be a good idea to get your little one allergy tested at some point to ensure you know what to avoid. But I'd stick with natural fibres on the skin and very careful use of detergents, and topical creams. Avoid lanolin too. And when food is involved have a look at what they can or can't tolerate. Eggs, nuts and citrus can cause problems.

It must have been horrendous for you OP. But I'm sure she will be fine now.

Hi DKarmani,
Avoid AVOID Lenor, especially if you have sensitive skin. I learned the hard way as i used the floral fresh one (pink one) and had a bad skin reaction...3 months later, the scars left are still healing. Now i know to avoid any type of fragranced fabric washing product. Not worth it. Instead you can buy some organic essential oils and create some scents of your own which I do and either put some in the washing part of the machine (where the fabric conditioner usually goes) or just put some in a small spray bottle and spray your cleaned clothes before putting in the drawer/wardrobe.
Honestly, best to just avoid fabric conditioners or if you can't, buy ones that don't use harsh chemicals or fragrances. Read the labels/ingredients in the back.

I have got a reaction to Lenor unstoppables my neck, ears face and head l have been given antihistamines from the Doctors and was told to use Calamine lotion it's not clearing up just googled it and it can last between 2-4 weeks l personally think it should have a warning on it .
🤔

So sorry that you are suffering @Shazzler71

We can't tolerant anything but the mildest "sensitive" ones. Most often I don't even bother with Fabric Conditioner.
