Non coeliac gluten sensitivity but never had a GF food prescription

Our DD is a teen now but since she’s been 3 we’ve had to buy her GF products .
Has anyone ever asked a GP if breads and flour can be given on prescription like with coeliac ? I wouldn’t ask anyway now as the nhs has enough to contend with but should it ever have been offered to her or is it coeliac only I wondered.

(Incidentally I was just trying to find juvela flour as her friend gets it on prescription so she’s eaten cakes with it at her house and I can’t believe it’s so expensive as tried to buy it )

Asda do gluten free flour for 33p a bag at the moment.

Our trust doesn’t do any gluten free prescriptions, hasn’t done for 3-4 years, it looks like ours isn’t the only trust to stop.

That’s interesting and thanks for the reply. To be honest I think it’s understandable they stop as must cost them a fortune and we manage as cheaply as can and I think it’s cheaper avoiding GF bread too often and we tend to stick to GF oats and big bags of gram flour etc.
That Asda price is fantastic!

M and S do gluten free flour too. I can't remember how much it cost, but reasonsble. Also do cake mixes which I've used and like. Not expensive.

Most trusts have now stopped GF prescriptions. It’s hard enough to get one with a coeliac diagnosis let alone without.

Another vote for asda too, their GF cereal has recently gone much cheaper. They also do their own GF bread which is about 30-40% cheaper than genius etc.

I will try that as just moved to Asda online. (I normally go to Tesco and love the Juvela bread but it’s something like £2.60. ) thanks for the tip!

M&s has impressed me for years on its gluten free options so I do really like them but don’t go too often . They even have tortellini now which I thought impressive . It can easily get very expensive there!

B & M do some GF lines too. Mine only seems to do schar loaves & rolls (cheaper than the supermarkets) but it might be worth checking your local one as some have a larger range.

Wow I never noticed they did. Thank you . That’s really good to know as we have one not too far. I like Schar as a brand as think it doesn’t have preservatives
