MMR reaction/cow's milk allergy

Hello
My 13-month old ds had his MMR jab on Wednesday morning and seemed fine but this morning he did the most dreadful acidic, loose poo.
The history behind this is that since introducing cow's milk to drink, and going off formula, he's had runny poos - this went on for a while, as HV told me to ditch formula and let him have cow's milk exclusively, even though I described his symptoms and questioned possibility of a cow's milk reaction.
Last week I was at the end of my tether, and fed up of being called by the nursery to say he has a tummy upset, I took him to the GP (again) and this time she referred us to get tests for an allergy. Still hasn't happened yet, though, so it's unconfirmed. Meanwhile, I've been avoiding milk. It wasn't getting any better but then on Monday he did his first normal poo for months, and things started to look up. The nursery said he was doing fewer runny ones.
He's also been less snotty, and coughs/sneezes less too.
But then yesterday he had his MMR (which I notice has a link with eggs) and he was fine, but then this morning he did another horrid poo (so bad I was sick) so it might have been the jab...
But I'm worried that it isn't a cow's milk allergy at all, as he's having a dodgy tummy despite being off the milk. In which case, i've no idea what it is. Could this be a reaction to the egg content of the MMR?
I rang GP today who said it's hard to tell - she didn't know what to suggest and told me to keep an eye on things.
Any advice? Does this sound like cow's milk allergy, or something else entirely? Luckily the nursery keeps a food diary so I do keep track.

Thanks

My dd had the MMR 2 weeks ago and has had terrible poos for around 1 week - very smelly. My ds was the same when he had his (over 3 yrs ago now). DS has eczema so he doesn't have cows milk - only goats milk. Have you tried him on goats milk for a couple of weeks to see if the symptoms go away? If they are still there after 2 weeks, then it is not the milk that's the problem.

Poor little mite (and poor you with the nappies!). If he's had the problem after introducing milk and then it disappeared after the milk was removed then he obviously does have a problem with milk. The reaction after the MMR is a separate issue I think - he could be sensitive to egg. Once you have one intolerance/allergy you are more likely to develop others. My DS started with gluten and milk allergies and then became sensitive to egg later.

Thanks, guys - really appreciate your advice.
If he is going to be tested for a cow's milk allergy, will the same test pick up any other allergies (eg egg) at the same time? If I can avoid yet another trip to the GP and a long wait, then I will. The little fella must be feeling pretty rotten in the gut department by now. The nursery said his poos have been very mucus-y as well, which I think is another sign. He was full of snot this morning, and woke up sneezing and coughing, so I think it might be the jab, or the egg in the jab (or both) on top of the milk allergy.
I think I'll give rice milk a go, once this MMR episode has passed through his system.
Is it possible for him to have a cow's milk allergy but to have been fine on normal formula? He had colic as a small baby but grew out of it at 4 months, and has been on Cow & Gate and then SMA progress until he was almost 1. He didn't have any problems, I think, until he had cow's milk rather than formula, but isn't formula based on cow's milk?
Just shows how much I know!

I think formula is based on cows' milk; I have an idea that it is not legal to base it on goats' milk anymore. My sister had allergies to dairy when she was little (it took ages to get it diagnosed) and she used to have soya milk instead, but I don't know if that is considered ok now.

There is no egg content in the MMR - hasn't been for years, so even if he reacted to this, then its not cause of egg.

it sounds like a problem with milk. The MMR may be related because its upset the bacteria in his gut - or it may be coincidence and some milk has contaminated his food, or his hands, at nursery.

Personally I'd put him on probiotics - very good for dodgy stomachs - and try lactose free milk in a few weeks to see if he copes with that. Meanwhile he would benefit from a calcium supplement if he's having no dairy.
