Egg allergy?

Posted this yesterday in the food forum before realising it would be better here. Don't know how to delete the other post (I'm new here).

Anyway – I'm sorry, I know there are lots of threads on egg allergies, but reading them is just getting me more confused so I thought I'd ask directly.

We introduced my daughter to egg this week, started with a teaspoon of hard-boiled egg mixed in with her baby food, then two teaspoons full. She seemed to tolerate it fine, no immediate reaction or fussiness. Yesterday and today she has had dry skin on her cheeks though – little red patches that she doesn't usually have. I'm thinking if that were a sign of allergy it would appear immediately after ingestion, right? So perhaps teething or dry air? (Although I don't think the air is dryer than normal...). Or would those of you with allergy experience say we should proceed with caution re eggs?

Why do you think your daughter might have an egg allergy in the first place?

My DS had an egg allergy diagnosed by blood tests . His symptom was severe eczema and there was a lag between eating egg and the skin issues .
It went away before he was 5 thankfully and we were told it is very common .

I don't, particularly, but our doctor said to watch her carefully when we give her egg and peanuts for the first time. Advice he apparently gives to all parents...

Sorry, the last message was a response to CS...

My ds has severe egg allergy. He reacted to my breast milk by having severe eczema and explosive diarrhea.

If she is not reacting straight away, it's unlikely that she has life threatening allergy. So just keep an eye on any reactions, and if worried, talk to gp/hv. It goes with any new food that you introduce to your child the first time.
