Dehydration - a cause for allergies?

Recently came across research from the author of this book www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/customer-reviews/095309216X/ref=cm_rev_next/026-8268825-1892421?i e=UTF8&customer-reviews.sort%5Fby=-SubmissionDate&n=266239&s=books&customer-reviews.start=11

and while it looks at first like just another crank there does seem to be some scientific basis behind it.

It would do no harm to try drinking a bit more water. Don't expect it to sort out the nut allergy but may help with my son's flaky scalp and my brothers asthma.

My dh had terrible rashes, backache & fatigue for months & gp prescriptions & advice proved fruitless. He went to a physio for advice - she recommended 2L of h2o a day & since then all probs hav ceased... so far so good but not sure his prob was allergies.

the doctor responsible for this idea also claims to have treated pain (at least one type, not sure about others - haven't actually read the book yet) with nothing but water.

Sounds like a crank.

It might help general health and well being but I'd be very surprised if it was that simple. If you are considering alternative routes I would research it and find a local, reputable and recommended practitioner. I think the causes for allergies vary and there isn't one single fix. I have gone down the alternative route with great success but I do have one of the best chinese docs in the country and a teaching college on my doorstep.
