Ghostashoshabuster · 10/10/2007 12:03

Have you got a wheel barrow to take it all in

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 10/10/2007 12:05

Oh what bollocks.. take it this is some private weirdo charging you a squillion quid to turn up stinking?

Why can't he just skin test patches on your arm with bits of your products, like a normal, dare I say, NHS, practitioner?

PoshCod · 10/10/2007 12:31

Just don't wash your arm cod.. if you are allergic then any skin will tell them this!

mylittlefreya · 10/10/2007 16:35

Can you not just wash in plain water??? Surely you can't be allergic to that, and they don't need all the sweat etc for the testing???

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/10/2007 16:53

Oh bugger - forgot to check thread again before she left. She washed all around it, but couldn't bath/shower.

Rather than have everything in one go, I think she had 2 loads of stuff tested, so actually had to go through this twice!

I guess if they've said to take everything, then do - they can then decide whether to test every eyeliner, or just a selection.

mlf - the problem with washing isn't that she's likely to be allergic to the water, but that the water might wash off/merge the other samples.

PoshCod · 10/10/2007 17:27

what was she lergic to int he end

OP posts:
mylittlefreya · 10/10/2007 18:29

Ah, it's a week after not a week before. That makes sense now - excuse my doziness.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/10/2007 20:06

Turned out to be cobalt, which is apparently used in hair dye.

PoshCod · 10/10/2007 21:51

ah i dont dye so can rule that one out
was she able to find other products?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 10/10/2007 22:02

What, other dyes? I think her dying was only an occasional thing anyway , so wasn't really an issue.

CoteDAzur · 11/10/2007 11:46

This "no wash" thing must be a new fad. Back when I was allergy-tested, it was all done at the same time.

Why can't he just apply all suspect products on various parts of your back & inside your arms to see which set off a reaction? Easy to see, as skin will turn red around it.

[I am assuming you have some type of skin manifestation (urticaria, etc) rather than itchy eyes, trouble breathing, etc.]
