Hayfever like I’ve never known

Not really much of a sufferer, usually. The last week has been misery. Has something changed in the environment (lockdown?) are other people suffering unusually bad hayfever too? Or is it just me?

Me! worse than for 20 years. I moved so put it down to that but who knows

Elouera · 14/04/2020 17:01

I'm getting it too, although no worse than other years. Different though is I'm pregnant, and every spray, eye drop and anti-histamine I have says not suitable in pregnancy!

Yesterday it was itchy eyes, today its itchy/running nose and most mornings I wake with 1 blocked nostril! I feel fine otherwise, but definitely my normal hay fever symptoms.

FranklySonImTheGaffer · 14/04/2020 17:03

I've suffered the last 6 years or so. Last year was bad but this year is awful. DH is also suffering for the first time ever this year - not sure why but it definitely seems to be worse now than ever before for us.

Ohffs66 · 14/04/2020 17:05

I usually only get it really mildly but last week when the weather was warmer I wanted to tear my nose off it was so damn itchy!! Better the last couple of days thank goodness.

maybelou · 14/04/2020 17:09

I never ever get hayfever but had really itchy eyes and dry throat this week! Definitely think it's a lot stronger than usual out there as I'm honestly never usually affected.

Eurobop · 14/04/2020 17:16

@Elouera I did get it a bit during pregnancy and my GP advised that a nasal spray would be ok. Would advise checking with your own though.

I read somewhere this week they were expecting the highest pollen levels since records began.

DD is suffering so badly Sad

MissConductUS · 14/04/2020 17:17

It's bad in New York too, mostly tree pollens but grass pollen is picking up too. Your sensitivity to allergens can increase over time. Mine got worse when I hit my 40's.

Eurobop · 14/04/2020 17:17

Glad I’m not the only one, sorry to hear you’re all suffering too though

@Elouera there is one antihistamine which is particularly suitable for pregnancy - called loratadine

Elouera · 14/04/2020 18:14

@Eurobop and @ShirleyPhallus- I shall look into the loratadine and nasal spray- thanks.

Bubblemonkey · 15/04/2020 11:53

It's horrendous. I've resorted to buying prescription strength antihistamines from a legitimate place because the ones you can buy are totally rubbish Blush
