My daughter has had a problem with something for a long time now.

We waited 5 months for an allergy blood test and I’m still waiting on the results but just wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Something she eats causes her to start clearing her throat. Then when it comes to night time she starts coughing and choking and wakes up swallowing sometimes she is sick form coughing so much. Some days you wouldn’t know anything was wrong, others it’s terrible. I really don’t know what it is that is causing it. She gets know skin problems that I see. She does have dry skin with little raised dots tho everywhere. It seems to effect her digestive system. She passes a lot of wind!!

I don’t know if the throat clearing is because it’s coming down from her nose or up from her belly!

Anyone any ideas??

Have you kept a food diary to try to narrow down what it might be?

Dairy allergy! This is so so much like my son.

I’ve tried but I can’t seem to find what it is. I suspect it’s more than one thing.

My son had endless problems with his stomach, randomly vomiting and regularly loose stools, with mucus and blood. His skin was exactly as you described. He would often say he had something in his throat and also complain of sicky burps. He got prescribed omeprazole eventually which helped massively with a lot of it but then we were told to cut out dairy and he's been absolutely so much better since.

Reflux maybe?

Movingon83 · 16/12/2019 20:04

I did try no milk for a few weeks, I’m sure it improved but something else at other times made it start up. I think it’s eggs. It’s so hard to try and pin point it. I feel like I’m clutching at straws.

Post nasal drip?

Movingon83 · 16/12/2019 23:00

That’s what the doc said. Gave me various inhalers but the consultant said there is no sign of inflammation in her nose so unlikely to be airborne causing allergy and post nasal drip.

Did you ever get the results?

coughing at night to the point of vomiting can be asthma
