Anybody have any idea what sets DD of at the same time every single morning from the middle of August until about late oct/early november? Very mucousy, runny eyes, sneezing, itchy skin on throat and chest although no rash present and coughing (is thought to be asthmatic -is on 2 puffs of becotide twice daily). Takes claratyn when it starts, GP tried to tell me it's hayfever but surely it's too late for this (I suffer from hayfever), asthma nurse wonders if house dust mite but do the usual damp dusting, anti allergy bedding, regular washing of covers, sheets etc etc. This has been going on now for 4 yrs. Gp reluctant to send her for allergy testing as he says we could test forever and a day and not get anywhere. She also reacts at different peoples houses at different times.

Its not too late for hayfever, I tend to get it early and later in the year. Ithis bbc website has information about hayfever at different times of year.

I've been getting hayfever symptoms these last couple of days, Henipen, so my vote goes with that, if every other external is as it is the rest of the year. Poor DD; hope she gets some relief

ds1 reacts to fungus & mould spores - so he's fine in the summer then as soon as we get some cooler wet weather (usually mid Sept except this year!) then off he goes.

Ah, thanks christy, having read your link it looks like it could be fungal spores. That would possibly explain why she reacts in places that seem strange aswell such as the swimming pool and even worse at my mums house.

Actually this is all quite a relief to hear as I was beginning to think it was my lack of hoovering that's to blame for my sniffles. (Not a relief for your DD, I know, Hennipen.)

For those whose kids might have house dust allergies, I've found these great natural mattresses. www.bebeco.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYCAT&catid=119
They do a whole range but these ones are made with coco fibre and apparently dust mites can't even live in them. I thought they'd be really expensive but actually they're cheaper than the bog standard one I bought in Mothercare. Hmmm.
