Best milk for 1-year-old

Apologies for posting this in the allergies section as I don't think ds has an allergy, but I figured you lot would be the experts on non-cows' milks...

I have just given up breastfeeding (or rather ds did) and he is refusing to drink cow's milk, not very impressed by formula these days either. I am thoroughly confused by all the advice about different milks I have googled. Whichever one you choose there seems to be an issue that none of them have enough fat for a 1-year-old... but I guess I can make sure he has that from other sources.

I've seen a brand of soya called 'So Good' which seems to have lots of vits packed in... is this suitable for a 1 year old? Or is rice milk better? I have been reading the packets of these things for so long my brain has gone fuzzy.

And with the fat thing, is it a specific type they need or should I just fry every damn thing in butter [head hurts]

To be honest, if he is eating well, and eating other dairy products - chesse, yoghurt etc, I wouldn't worry about it too much. DS was not one for drinking milk of any sort as a drink once he gave up BF (unless it is chocolate milk - that's gets his seal of approval!)

Does he have milk on cereal?

Can't help out much otherwise, but I'm sure other people will.

HOw about Goats or Buffalo? Both supposedly easier for some people to digest than cows milk.

Thanks. He does have milk on his raisin wheats etc, but it doesn't amount to much. How much yogurt do they have to eat before you can stop worrying?!

I've tried fortified soya milk tonight, of which more went down, but still not a lot.

another vote for goats' milk here - have never found a soya one that I like at all.

My dd2 drinks almost no milk, doesn't like it and never has since age 1 when she was weaned from the breast. She will eat other dairy products though. I do not think there is any point in worrying: at 11 years old she is healthy, well grown and has perfect teeth. I seem to remember giving her Total yoghurt on fruit for breakfast at one stage. She will take cow's milk on Weetabix because it soaks in.
