Hi, i'm looking to purchase anti allergy pillows and duvets. Can anyone reccomend any that have worked well for their children who suffer with house dust mite allergy, asthma and eczema? Do I need to purchase anything else, e.g. mattress protector too?

Many thanks.

I just gor average ones from Dunhelm, I didn't think they made a lot of difference. We had the same results by leaving his new mattress in the plastic in which it was delivered and washing the bedding often enough (weekly) (mind you, I put a beach towel between the mattress and the bedding to prevent him from getting too hot. The towel goes to the laundry basket aswell once a week).

The only thing I would avoid are the ones that come with thin plastic attached... it desintegrates at the first wash.

DS used to get quite bad at hotels (blame it on the detergent or the fact they don't air their blankets as often as we would) but since we take with us a Dream Bag (they are sold in allergy websites and are like one layer cotton sleeping bags. They are quite expensive but worth every penny, however get the adult size. The children's one becomes tiny after washing, DS's looks like an oversized pillow cover now!)

mean to say that since we got the Dream Bag he is doing much better.

I just posted something above on this. I found these natural matresses by Bebebco. They're made from coco fibre and apparently dust mites can't live in them. They were cheaper than the mattress I bought for DD in Mothercare as well. Have a look here www.bebeco.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYCAT&catid=119
