Working out what gives my toddler bad nappies

I’ll get right to the gory detail! My 2 year old son has always had very loose poos - I don’t think we’ve ever had a solid one. I was assuming this would change naturally in time but it isn’t, and as we’re approaching wanting to potty train it feels like something we need to diagnose. I’ve spoken to the health visitor who suggested various diet amendments to try. The first one we’re trying is going dairy free. I’m not sure how long to try this for before deciding it’s not helped? He did have trouble digesting diary as a baby so was dairy free for the first year, so this is what made the health visitor think it could be that. We’re only on the second week. He doesn’t like the almond milk I’m giving him so I’m worried his milk intake has dropped loads in doing this. The second thing I need to try is reducing his fibre. All the foods he likes best are high fibre! And they are all healthy so swapping them for less healthy things (and trying to get him to eat those) feels so backward. But I can see that he could be having a bit too much. I guess rather than any specific question I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or has any experience or ideas about making these sorts of dietary adjustments! Thanks guys

My DS1 didn’t do anything remotely like solid poo until almost 5. At the very best it was hummus like in texture (made worse by weetabix). It did settle itself eventually and didn’t hamper potty training - we just went straight to the loo for poos, using a toilet seat. The pourty one is quite good.
