Tons of questions regarding Formula, Foods HELP

Hello everyone,

My son of 11 months has been on at least 6 different formulas, was on Neocate for quite some time but started to hate the taste. Can't blame him at all!!
He's now on Alfamino but without any foods, rice cakes or anything else he's got very loose stools. Paediatrician said it was very weird and has eventually given us Sodium Cromoglicate 3 to 4 times daily.
I'll be honest to say it's a bit of a hassle to dissolve the powder, give it in a syringe & wait 30 to 45 minutes and in the mean time to keep my boy happy because he wants his bottle or lunch.
I noticed that normal wholemeal toast with the teeniest amount of butter started to give him the runs so we stopped with the butter but that's not too nice in the morning (again I agree with my LO) Also the tropical cereal and especially the muesli give him very quick a very full nappy. We've tried Oaty milk due to higher calorie content but that gave him the runners too.

We are set to try a malted milk biscuit again in August but the half one we gave (accidentally) in end of April resulted in the worst diarrhoea for 3 days and a very irritated baby boy.

The paediatrician said there's not a big chance of the meds working for us but hasn't given any other options so I'm not sure what comes next & we see her again somewhere in September.

I'm not sure what else to do anymore food wise and medication wise. I think I'm a bit bothered that he's so young and on meds already although 4 times a day isn't a lot and I know some kids are on a lot more medication.
Has anyone got any experience with this Sodium Cromoglicate or with the symptoms my son has? Or any ideas on what we could try and see if things improve a bit? The paediatric dietitian is very hard to reach and doesn't give a lot of information either.
Thanks for reading this long post Flowers

I've not experienced the meds so sorry, I can't be much help there.

Do they suspect CMPA?

PotatoScallop · 12/05/2019 08:09

Do they suspect a cow's milk protein allergy? From the sounds of it, he's reacting when you give dairy? Diarrhoea is a symptom of allergic reaction, as is vomiting. I'd speak to a specialist allergist for advice, if you can get referred. And stay dairy free in the meantime.

Thanks for replying and I think I should've been a bit more clear Blush He's diagnosed with dairy intolerance but seems to be reacting now more on things he wasn't reacting before like his toast and cereal Confused

So I am really confused and the paediatric doesn't give any answers apart from He might have toddler diarrhea and here are tablets which concerns me

If he's reacting to toast and cereal, are they both completely milk free?

Has anyone discussed the possibility of going soya free? Approximately half of those with CMPA also react to soya so if you can get hold of the Dietician, it's worth discussing trialing a DF and SF diet.

@JiltedJohnsJulie yes both are completely dairy free and with things like a baby biscuit (Aldi ones) or pasta we've got loose nr2s as well. The only thing he doesn't seem to respond to is rice but can't feed him that everyday Confused
Goodness me soy can go hand in hand with CMPA!! I didn't know that.
I'll see if I can get a hold of the dietitian and see what she says. Thank you very much
