Weaning showing dairy allergy - what now?

My EBF 7 month old has started coming out in a rash when I tried her with formula. As we're weaning I've tried her with yogurt and she's had the same reaction.
I'm making an appointment with the GP - what will they likely do?
Although she's never shown an obvious reaction to my milk, I think it would probably be best to cut dairy from my diet to see if it makes any difference. To what extent should I cut it? I'm guessing swap cows milk in my tea and cereal, no more cows cheese, etc. But would you do full 'free-from'? She seems to have a bit of digestive discomfort when she takes dairy directly, but she's nowhere near the same as babies I know with full blown CMPA.
I know it can take 6 weeks for dairy to leave your system completely, but how soon should I start to see a difference in her if there was one to see?

Argh, sorry, so many questions! And this is before I start freaking out about the fact that I'll be going back to work and she's unable to drink normal formula and refuses to drink expressed breast milk from any container (even though she used to! gargh!)

Hi, exactly same experience as you - I am bf and baby seemed fine with milk in my diet but when I started weaning and tried cows milk directly - allergic reaction (this was very obvious on 3rd exposure). Dr has referred us to paediatrics but had said the are unlikely to test for it as the tests are inaccurate and that they go by history and symptoms. For now we avoid giving baby dairy directly and I still have some in my diet whilst I continue to bf. The thought of having to go dairy freebie is rubbish - milk is in everything

Also, dr did say if baby is tolerating cows milk via breast milk then it’s ok to include it

How are you getting I now OP? I've got CMPA. I don't have any dairy at all or dairy as an ingredient in food but I will eat "may contains".

You don't have to go just to the Free From aisle either, there's loads of things you can give that are naturally DF.

Are you doing purées and finger foods or BLW? Smile

Sorry @jiltedjohnsjulie I've been off mumsnet for a while.
The GP was pretty shit, he was locum and didn't really have a clue.
We're nearly at the end of our 6 week period and I haven't seen any massive difference in her since I eliminated dairy. Although no new rash so at least she's not getting worse. I'm actually not finding it as tough as I thought it would be and I think I'll actually continue to be low dairy regardless. I'm going to go back to the GP (a different one) next week to find out what our next steps are with DD.
We are traditional weaning her but she gets some of our food at every meal as well as puree, so it's handier for me to remain DF as I know it's all safe for her. Thankfully she has shown no other sensitivities.
I bloody miss cheese though.
