Is it possibly to get allergy shots on the NHS? e.g. for dust allergy?

Has anyone ever had allergy shots (desensitisation shots where you get injected with small amounts of the allergen repeatedly over a period of months/years to prevent your body reacting to it?

I have awful dust allergies (sore throat, congestion, itchiness, wheezing), to the point I'm losing a lot of sleep at night and so unable to concentrate during the day, despite how much I've tried to clean the house.

Has anyone had it done on the NHS? If not, how much was it private and was it effective long-term?

Thank you

No bit I’d be interested in the results. I hoovered the mattress yesterday, washed the bedding at 60, damp dusted and hoovered the bedroom and still struggled.

You need to be referred and tested for lots of things I seem to recall.

You probably might have this or might not help but my son is highly allergic to dust and I bought a air purifier for his bedroom and it's helped massively

They are available, though I think only for hayfever. You have to have them done in hospital and be monitored for quite a while after each one due to the risk of a severe reaction

Sorry I realise this is an old thread but I developed horrendous allergy symptoms 3 years ago. Eventually begged GP to refer me to Immunology Dept at hospital. They tested me and turns out I was severely allergic to house dust mites, moderately allergic to a few other things (too many to list). I’m now on a 3 year programme of treatment where I have to take a tiny oral solution everyday for 3 years. I’m 1 year in and there’s been a tiny improvement. Hope you get sorted Flowers

FrontRow My son is also very allergic to dust mites, did you ever get headaches as part of your symptoms? Just wondering if my sons headaches are down to sinus issues with his allergies.

My son allergy grade to dust is 6 over the 100 kUA/l and his IGE is 2300 would you mind saying what your scores were if you know as I'd be interested to see if my sons allergy is high enough to try desensitisation. The paediatrician did say that dust score was very high but I'm wondering how high compared to others.
