Hi,

I have a 3 month old who has been having eczema since he was 3/4 weeks - started out as cradle cap but didnt have anything on his chest, arms, legs back or back of knees.

He is on Hipp Organic and I am wondering if its the formula? has anyone had any problems. I tried Weleda creams its not working, the only thing is helping is steroid cream and I really dont want to continue that.

I also changed my laundry washing liquid and that hasnt helped either. Was using Method and went to Persil Non Bio.

He doesnt have it on his face but he has rough skin and itchy skin everywhere. I moisturise him 6/7 times a day and it doesnt help. :(

Poor thing. Early eczema can be an early indication of allergies. Do you have a good HV or gp?

Try Child's Farm products, bath washes and moisturisers. You can buy them in supermarkets and Boots etc. If you look on their Facebook page they have helped eczema dramatically in lots of babies and children. I use them for myself and my DC's as we all have eczema and they have been a miracle

Poor little thing. Does he have any of these symptoms?

Thanks for your help and answers! 😊 - our Gp and HV are okay-ish I would say, not the best at much of advise. GP prescribed Hydrocortisone 0.5mg? And Diprobase which the LO hates...

I also started using Childs Farm Moisturiser today morning, can already see a difference. Perhaps I am not sure if Weleda, oils makes his skin rough? Blotchy?

I am going to have to book an appointment for him at the docs to see if they can figure out what might be the cause. The symptoms are just skin rash, patches of eczema skin. He is fine otherwise, no colic or reflux.

Sometimes there isn't a 'cause' for eczema, yes it can be exacerbated by allergens but sometimes it's just something you have and have to live with and manage as best you can. I've had eczema all my life and know that cat fur and perfumes soaps for eg make it worse but the eczema is always there regardless.

I was prescribed the steroid cream for by 6mo, I didn't like to keep using it either and brought tons of different creams. In the end calomine lotion cleared it, I could instantly see improvement, it took a while to clear though and it's never come back (so far, now 1yr). Worth a try?

Excema os often caused by allergies. The most common one is dustmites. Can you get a dust mite encasement for his mattress and your bed if he sleeps on that. Then keep him off any carpets and sofas and see how he does.

The second most common cause if food allergies. If you want to road test, you can seitch to a dairy amd soya free formula and see what happens. You can also get a hydrolysed protein one, but that needs a doctors prescription.

Keep moisturising amd check the creams for lanolin, that can cause excema.
