How can I get my son allergy tested?

My 14month old had an allergic reaction to peanut butter at 7mo (also has very severe eczema). After a lot of messing around and going back and forth to GP etc we were referred to see an “allergy specialist” who was a complete waste of time and just gave me a leaflet on but allergies.

I was very upset leaving this appointment today with no more answers than I went in with!

Has anyone else had this issue or found a way to actually get someone to do an allergy test? Everyone we have seen on the NHS have been reluctant for some reason & I am considering getting it done privately

Thanks for any help in advanceSmile

If he clearly is allergic to peanuts, why do you want him tested? The results of the test will not change the advice- i.e. avoid nuts.

Our dd had a clear reaction to peanuts, so they didn’t bother to test her- nor would we have let them. They did test her before she started school to see if she was still allergic and unfortunately she is.

I thought the NHS advice was no nuts or peanut butter till atleast 1 year?

I want to find out if it is just peanuts or all nuts as there are traces in pretty much everything! Also was told an allergy test would help determine what was causing him to wake up some mornings with puffy eyes when he hasn’t had peanut and why he has such bad eczema flare ups.

We were advised to give him peanut butter to help him gain weight by the health visitor.
