House Allergy

Hi

I'm new to mumsnet but in need of some advice/support.

We moved house nearly 2 years ago within the same village. The house is old (1960) and in need of complete renovation which we are in the process of sorting out....hopefully start within the next couple of months.

My issue is that since moving to this house we have all have skin issues on our face. My husband, 6 year old son & me have all have reddening on our cheeks & increase sensitivity to skincare products etc. I also experience a burning irritated feeling on my cheeks.

If it was just one of us I'd probably not be linking it to something in our home but it seems very strange that we've all been affected.

My question is this, has anyone else experienced anything at all similar? In our house there is a large amount of exposed brick & stone and also a vast amount of wood cladding. I have also found mould in the ensuite bathroom.

I was allergy tested (patch test) last year, thinking it was something I was putting on my skin. The only things that were positive were Tea Tree Oil (which I don't use), Nickel & Chromium. I have done lots of research & found that chromium is in brick & cement dust so this could be a potential irritant.

My husband thinks I'm clutching at straws and that it has nothing to do with our house but then why would we all have facial reddening & skin irritation? It's driving me mad & causing anxiety as I worry it's something permanent & that I'll have to deal with bad skin & the burning sensation forever!

I really do hope someone can help me.
