dh has excema, asthma ,nut allergy, hay fever, and am getting conflicting advice on how long to avoid wheat, gluten or both. What breakfast cereal can I give ds(he is just 6 months, but 3.5 weeks prem and have just started weaning). gf book refers to a wheat free, gluten free baby cereal, does this actually exist??

Hi Utka,

I just made up cereal with water and pureed friut and ds didn't seem to mind. He still prefers it this way actually. Once I discovered this and could stop trying to express for cereal we were all a lot happier.

Pidge, I tried the apricot puree thing on baby Pog, he loved it, thanks.
Also used the quinoa grains, but rinsed them for 2 mins under running tap - as a quinoa website advised - no bitterness at all. I thought they tasted very pleasant and am going to try mixing them with rice for myself, or instead of couscous or bulgar wheat.

You can buy low sugar, gluten free Heinz rusks which are great if you take one half, mash it in milk and add pureed milk.

Whoops - pureed fruit.

Can also rub 2 bits together to make a 'crumble' over fruit.

My dd has organix cereal from waitrose. It's gluten free and not sweet at all. I mix hers up with water. She seems to love it. One of the only that HAVE NO SUGAR ADDED!!!
I would give it a go!

We had reactions(hives) from gluten, so she is off all those products too.

Good luck
