Private v NHS allergy specialist care?

Does anyone have experience of either or both?

We've had NHS care for ds's nut and cmp allergies but over time the appointments have reduced and the care worsened.

I'm seriously considering going private but wondered if that's even possible?

We're just outside Leeds so are under LGI at present.

I don't and I live in Ireland so I'm no use to you but I just want to say I feel your pain. We are using the public system in Ireland and DS's last apt was 2 years ago. He had multiple allergies but is down to egg, peanut and some tree nuts. He is well up the egg ladder now and he was due to get an almond challenge last year but no apt has been forthcoming. I rang a few times to be told there are very lengthy waiting lists. I got a call to ask if we would accept an apt in a private hospital which I agreed to but then I realised that he wont see the allergy specialist there and will just be some doctor.

I'm very fed with the system here.

My son was born with cmpa, but NHS wouldn't diagnose him as I believe they didn't want to prescribe the very expensive formula.

Went private and he was diagnosed immediately. We were lucky that the paediatrician we saw was an allergy specialist.

We would see him both privately and through the NHS, and he would always tie up his notes from all appointments. We could get an appointment same day with him privately, but NHS wait was 6 months usually.

If you can afford private I wouldn't hesitate.
