Opinions please. Could it still be celiac?

Hi
Ive had gastro problems for years (mostly constipation/bloating) which had been put down to IBS. Still suffering reguarly with constipation but for the last few months ive also had awful problems with painful gas/bloating, the most foul smelling flactulence and weight gain that goes once i finally have a bm (very 'sticky' and large). I was tested for celiac by blood test but it came back ok. I should add though that im breastfeeding and due to little ones allergies, currently free from eggs, soya and dairy. I notice symptoms worse when i have a lot of oats, and after not really eating bread or cakes for over a year, i made a vegan birthday cake for my other half and ate lots. This triggered awful pain, bloating and constipation which has just about gone. On friday i ate a donut and was diarhea yesterday am. Had a baguette for lunch and again had diarhea. I dont know if its coincidence but seems to link.

The only thing that makes me think its not this is that pasta doesnt seem to have the same effect. Its literally just cakes/bread/pastry.

Thoughts?

Thanks

It is possible. My first thought is whether you had been on a fully gluten-containing diet when you had the blood test (and how long ago was it done?). If you weren't then ideally you'd have plenty of gluten for a few weeks before getting a repeat test done.

After that (assuming repeat blood test negative), try a gluten-free diet anyway and see what happens. Go more for lots of fruit and veg over trying to replace with gluten-free products. Liaise with your GP and if you are feeling much better gluten-free then do one more gluten challenge - then you'll have "an" answer. But if you get inconsistent results look for some other explanation. Good luck!
