Egg allergy: what can I use to bind food together instead of egg?

Any suggestions? I always want to make burgers / meatballs (those types of foods) and all the recipes have egg in them. What could I replace it with?

I've made them with nothing replacing the egg and they've been OK. One recipe wanted grated apple which made it all a bit wetter I suppose.

Gram (chickpea) flour works very well as it's so sticky, you might need to add a little water with it. If you use low fat mince though, and don't add lots of other things (just some onions and herbs) they bind fine without the egg - it's fat that makes them fall apart.

My DS and DD have egg allergies and I had a similar problem to you until I discovered the wonders of...
Light Philadelphia Cheese!
Perfect for binding breadcrumbs onto chicken and fish goujons etc - just whip it a bit to make it soft, roll the meat into it and dip it into breadcrumbs before grilling/baking. Works a treat and tastes lovely. Haven't actually tried it in meatballs/burgers but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Does Orgran egg replacer works in burgers? I have not tried that way but works well for many other things. (It doesn't taste like egg at all, though. Actually, I can't even taste anything in it but keeps cakes together, and batter, etc.)
