I gave up dairy about 5 years ago after reading the information on CMPA on Allergy uk and speaking to my GP. I haven’t regretted it once since then.

It did seem very daunting at first, but you soon get used to what you can and can’t have. Within a couple of weeks you will find it so much easier and if dairy is a problem you should feel a whole lot better by then too 🙂

Have you found a milk and a butter alternative that you like yet?

Do you need any food suggestions?

Yes please , I don’t know where to start? I’m pregnant aswell so abit nervous about it, but I’ve really cut down on the dairy and I’ve hardly sneezed in the last few days which is massive !!, xxx

I use 'Pure' sunflower spread (they have it in tesco and other supermarkets). I like almond milk, coconut milk is lovely but upsets my stomach unfortunately. You might need more of it to meet nutritionsl requirements. I don't bother with cheese substitutes, but I do sometimes put dairy free pesto onto a pizza for the salty flavour. Mayonnaise can be dairy free, which took me a while to realise. You might find cutting out the 'main' dairy items resolves your issues enough. 'Meat/fish and two veg' type meals are easy and involve no thinking what is dairy free!

Thank you so much, xx

I use almond milk as well and sometimes pure, sometimes vitalite. Cinnamon bagels with vitalite make a nice breakfast or snack. 50/50 bread is fortified and dairy free, but like everything. Always check the pack.

You can make Yorkshires with almond milk and Bisto Best is DF.

Spag Bol is DF too.

Cottage pie can be DF if you put vitalite on the mash instead of butter.

Jambalaya.

If you like crisps, check the packs but chicken, Worcester sauce and salt and vinegar are usually DF.

Almonds make a nice snack and dried figs are high in calcium too.

I don’t use cheese alternatives either but you can get them from most supermarkets now.

I’ll probably think of a few more things later 🙂
