Milk Protein Intolerance

I know this has probably been done to death, but DD (11 months) is suspected of being milk intolerant. The main problem with this is she loves cheese with a passion. I've bought some Cheesily (sp) but the stuff is rank and to make matters worse doesn't melt under the grill Any suggestions of a decent cheese substitute?

TIA

can she have milk from other animals?

mine love soft goats cheese spread on brread or mixed through pasta and feta cheese on their pizza

you can get soya cheese too but no idea how it ranks i'm afraid as soya products never go down all that weel here!

Unfortunately not - no cow/sheep/goats milk and no milk derivatives at all. She started on soya milk on Thursday (hopefully she'll have no reaction to that) , which I think is disgusting but DD seems to like, soya yoghurts are not too different in taste, so no problem there, it's just the cheese - slimey, smelly and made me gag when I tried it. Bleugh!

You could try the Tofutti brand cheese slices. DS is dairy intolerant and we have found good substitutes for almost everything - rice milk, soy yoghurt, dairy free chocolate adn biscuits etc.- but have pretty much given up on cheese. Like you said, most of it just made me gag. But the Tofutti cheese slices aren't too bad - a bit watery if you try to melt them and the tofutti brand cream cheese is actually pretty good as a spread on toast/bagels or in a jacket potato.

Here

Thank you SugarMagnolia! I'll give it a go
