Allergic to garlic??

I'm allergic to apples and various other such fruits. I get a very itchy mouth, gums throat and neck.

I've just eaten a load of garlic cloves from a jar, pickled in vinegar and am starting to feel the same sort of reaction...

Any ideas what the similarity could be??!

No idea. I was wondering that. I use fresh garlic in cooking all the time and never had this before. But then I can eat apple pie and drink apple juice and ave no problem until I eat an apple!!

You can be allergic or sensitive to anything.

Don't know if this adds anything really, but I found I had quite a reaction to garlic, and a bit to onions in the past - it gave me wind-bloat pains that could get quite bad. I avoided eating them for quite a while, substituting with leek which didn't cause the same reaction, (maybe cos it's milder?) After a couple of years I found I was better with onions and garlic, but I still have to be a little bit cautious. (I love 'em though!)
