Re-introducing dairy to allergic child.

the allergy nurse told us to try DD on milk at one year but not to consider trying egg until aged 3. In the past DD has reacted to milk and egg as an ingredient so we have totally avoided it, she had swellings, lumps and spots but no eczema. Last week (as she is now one) I tried her on a little bit of mozerella cheese which she adored (said really as she is very apathetic about food but loved the cheese) - she was fine and had no reaction. She had a little bit more and a little goats milk on cereal - again no reaction. But last night I noticed that out of no-where she has developed really horrible eczema behind her knees, the dairy is the only thing I can think of so we've cut it out again but how can I tell if she's still allergic? I thought that if the cheese was a problem she would have come up in spots again but perhaps it's now coming out as eczema? sorry to ramble, we are find with being dairy and egg free but I would love to be able to introduce a bit more variety and get her really enjoying food

what a pain, no pn intended.

I gess yo can just remove the dairy and then try it again in a month or so and see what happens.

from what yo said, she got a reaction abot a week after dairy prodcts being introdced into her diet, and they were introdced slowly? it cold be the dairy prodcts.

I wold try jst introdcing goats milk next time, get some goats cheese and yoghrt etc. If no reaction after some weeks, yo cold try switching to cows milk, bt dont mix the 2 at first. It cold be that she can handle goats milk bt not cows (or bffalo)

probably is worth taking her back off dairy. Doesn't sound like she is allergic any longer but it can make eczema worse. When you decide to try again cheese or live yoghurt are safer than milk and goats milk products cause fewer problems than cows.

Trial and error with eczema - sorry.

I would leave dairy out of the diet for a bit longer. It may be that she is intolerant rather than allergic (allergic anyway but there should be a build up -ie. giving her dairy for several days in a row- for symptomps to start to show).

If you are reintroducing dairy start using hard mature cheeses first and leave milk for the very last. You can try goat or sheep cheese first rather than cows cheese to err on the side of caution. We are currently reintroducing dairy to DS diet, he is definitively not OK with goats milk but can tolerate goat cheese as long as it it's of a dry variety.
