Weaning early due to allergy/intolerance

My DD is 16 weeks old. We stopped breastfeeding at 3weeks due to a missed tongue tie (diagnosed much later at 10 weeks). Within a week of formula she showed signs of CMPA (blood in stools, sickness, eczema). She has an older sibling with CMPA so was prescribed nutramagin, reacted badly to this, and we returned to dairy comfort while we waited for a prescription for another hydrolysed formula. Over the course of a few days her allergy symptoms cleared up. Only the sickness lingered, which was resolved when she had the TT fixed. She is now a very happy and content baby, putting on weight and seemingly enjoying the comfort formula without any difficulty. Allergy consultants discharged her yesterday but advised us that if a child has shown some signs of intolerances/difficulties such as hers, we can start to wean around 4.5 months. We had some other discussions and I left without asking why early weaning is recommended. It's not something I'm comfortable with and would prefer the leave it till 6 months.

Does anyone know why it is advised to wean early?

(I meant to say her symptoms cleared up while on the dairy comfort formula and we never needed to try another hydrolysed formula)

Rather than me try and describe it, google the EAT study ( enquiring about tolerance) ... and then follow their advice Grin. I reckon it worked for my number 3
