Could this be a wheat/gluten intolerance? (possible tmi)

I've recently started a new job and have been keeping to a rigid food regime to save time and maximise my energy (I work in construction). For the past week I've eaten only fruit, vegetables, oatcakes, Weetabix, milk, cheese, fish and chicken. I also have one cup of coffee a day and lots of water. Absolutely nothing else. I've been feeling great, no problems.

Today, however, I ate two chocolate and hazelnut croissants at about 11am. Since then I've been to the loo 4 times with loose bm! It's felt quite urgent each time. I also feel a bit queasy and headachey. I can't help but think something about those wretched croissants has really disagreed with me! Especially as I've had no bread, cakes or biscuits since last Saturday. I do have the odd loose-ish bm fairly frequently, but could never pinpoint a particular trigger. Could it be an intolerance? Is it possible to be aggravated only by very refined wheat products? I've had Weetabix every day after work and been fine. I'm very confused.

I guess the next step might be a visit to the GP, but if anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful!

I have exactly the same thing Op. Following a low carb regime but last night had literally two or three mouthfuls of pasta and I too have had headache all morning and back and for to the toilet.

It just goes to show how bad refined wheat is for you.

Could be. Could also be sugar induced? Weetabix and oatcakes are presumably fairly high in wheat, but could be to do with processed and refined flours.

I went to my GP for stress and after I described my symptoms of tummy cramps and vomiting she referred me for a blood test for coeliac. She said it is massively under diagnosed. Turns out I am just massively stressed though.

walking it's terrible isn't it! I have friends who are gluten free and am beginning to see why.

dandelion good thinking re sugar! I've noticed how much better I feel having so little refined sugar over the past few days. The croissants had Nutella-ish stuff inside them so were probably a sugar bomb. Sorry to hear you're having such terrible effects from stress Flowers

I think it's probably the fat and sugar. I've had he same after being on a diet

Good point clock. I'm going to have to watch what I eat and make note of any issues. I'll definitely be sticking to the diet I've been eating so far. It's been keeping me so energised, which is vital.
