i have decided it may be worth a try to give dd's probiotics. with dd2 i can just change her yoghurts, but as dd1 wont touch them, i would like some recommendations on ones i can possibly add to her milk. do they change the flavour of foods much? and which ones will i be able to get from the high street chemist or holland and barrett? are they expensive?

Same as you, I thought I'd give them a go. I just bought some yesterday for ds who's 7 months - bifidobacterium infantis by Biocare. It's a dairy free powder. I couldn't believe the price, c£23.00, but I guess it will last for ages. I got them from my local healthfood shop. I mixed the powder with a little water and added it to his tea. I couldn't taste it and ds ate it. A nutrition book I have suggests that the powder can be added to a baby's bottle. HTH

info on ABCdophilus

This one can be added to any cold food or drink. its also a powder, really good quality. one bottle lasts for ages, you only use about 1/4 teaspoon at time. its about £14 in UK.
You can get it in a good health shop (H&B dont do it) or online at the above link.

Some have to be stored in the fridge. They don't taste of anything and are usually bulked up with something. The one I am using at the moment is bulked up with corn flour/syrup so it just melts like icing sugar. I mix it in with ds's breakfast cereal and some flax seed oil.

Misdee my DS won't eat yogurt like your DD1 and what I do is let him help me make 'special milkshake'. He get's his special noddy cup & straw we mix a few tablespoons of probiotic strawberry yogurt, top up with milk and mix it all together and he has a nice nutricious, healthy drink!
He wont eat any fruit but will help me make a banana milkshake in the same way.

My son absolutely loves Actimel, and particularly loves drinking out of the little plastic bottles.
