Is anyone following the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol for health reasons?

I am going to try it for a month and see how I find it. I'm slowly winding down into it as I can't cope with going cold turkey all of a sudden as my head is already mashed with feeding a baby, toddler, OH etc etc. I'm used to just grabbing at stuff without thinking so I'm going to have to try and plan my meals.

Also did you find it helped the autoimmune disorder you were trying to treat with it?

Thank you

5 years ago at the request of my physio I followed a gluten, nightshade, additives and caffeine free diet due to complex allergies fibro and M.E

at the time I was in a wheelchair, wracked with pain and seriously ill

5 days later I could walk! Threw my sticks away and stopped taking all sorts of pain killers, ranitidine, anti depressants etc

It turned out I was a severe hidden coeliac and was close to dying due to multiple anaemia, profound nutritional dificiencies that were causing tetany, palpitations, osteoporosis and brittle asthma

5 years on I remain free of my wheelchair and walking sticks, sadly the condition has left me with some permanent nerve damage but my specialist who formalised the diagnosis said I would not have lasted another 5 years

Best of all it led to my two gorgeous kids being diagnosed before they became damaged

I did it for about six months whilst having unexplained stomach pains and it did help. The stomach pains were interfering with my sleep and it did calm things down enough that I could sleep.

After many investigations turns out I had post infectious IBS after a really bad bout of food poisoning and a hiatus hernia from all the throwing up- cutting out tomatoes/peppers/chillis/spices and nuts really helped reduce the amount of acid my stomach was producing.

It was dull as ditchwater though, especially when the low format bit was added in.
