Erythromycin reaction really worried

Dd is constantly ill with ear infections and infected eczema. Dr gave her the above ( can't be bothered to spell it again) and she has developed a swollen blotchy face and rash all over her body. Saw dr again today and he has stopped that and put her on another one. Last dose of erythromycin 12.30 (midday) today surely rash should be getting better by now? Actually face looks worse.

Not got anything useful to add I'm afraid - just wanted to say hope you get some sensible advice from NHS direct, and DD feels better soon.

Has her face gone down at all? Is she staying the same or getting any worse?

hope you got somewhere with nhs direct. dd1 also reacts to erthromycin, but it affects her stomache more than her skin. hope your dd is feeeling better soon.

Thanks. Took her down to the A&E in the end. They think the infection has worsened the eczema, never seen it loking that bad. Her temp is sky high. Still worried, she slept for 3 hours today, which is unheard of. She's on ceporex now. They say to bring her back tommorow if no improvement. I am also giving her piriton as really itchy, poor little love . Probiotics as in the yoghurt drinks robinw? I will look for that thread.

Can't add much more of value, other than ds has problems with erythromycin (?sp?) and there are other related medecines such as an eyedrop - so watch out for these in the future. They have similar names so can be easily recognised.

Piriton makes ds (15months) v v sleepy so that and being poorly might well account for the sleep. But it's worrying, i know.

Hope all goes well.
