Homeopathic remedies for eczema

We are contemplating trying a homeopathic approach to managing dd1's eczema. I am quite pro, but dh is a bit sceptical.

Anyone had any results with this?

Before we saw a homeopath, dh was also skeptical but now believes in it. we tried a couple of remedies before we found one that cleared up ds1's skin but didn't get rid of the itching. the homeopath changed remedy dosage and nothing seemed to work after that. his skin got very bad and we recently started seeing a new one who is also a medical doctor. awaiting results but am still optimistic even if it's just to improve the quality of the skin.

Give it a try, there's no harm in it and you might be one of the lucky ones

my ds1 had molluscum and eczema. the homeopath gave him sulphur 200 first with little effect then pustilla 200 which combined with bathing him in loads of (healthfood shops or specialist food shops have it) unrefined seasalt and porridge oats (drained in a sock) eczema has gone. seasalt idea came from mumsnet on another eczema thread after a few mums reported their childrens eczema had gone after bathing in the sea during the holidays.

We have used it and the first time it worked like a charm, but now is back and the remedy prescribed previously doesn't seem o work anymore.

Homeopathy only works if the prescribed remedy AND dose match your child'd problem perfectly, that's why it is so important to get a very good homeopath as there are infinite variations on what, when and how these remedies can be taken.
It wouldn't make any harm if it doesn't work but don't leave regular medicines, as the eczema can get considerably worse.

I also use sea salt in ds1's bath - have heard of oats before, but not used them. do you just wrap them up and tie under running water?

minkmama - i put the porridge oats in an old sock and fitted it over the hot water tap. if your ds's is happy for you to squeeze the sock over the eczema then i would try that.

I'm using homeopathy alongside other things (nutrition etc) so I can't say for sure the extent of the impact of the homeopathy but my GUT feel is that it has made a difference. I also see it as a long-term continuous treatment that will have to change in line with symptoms etc. My dh was also sceptical but he did admit that there was a big improvement. He would have preferred me to go to a medically qualified homeopath but I went to a non-medical one I was recommended.

With ds's first treatment, his eczema started healing last to first, so recent patches cleared up completely and new patches came and went in about 48 hours. I wasn't using any GP prescribed emolients or bath additives (oats instead) or HC. So it was either the homeopathy or coincidence. I used a homeopathic cream, Urtical (urtica and calendula) as an emolient from Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy (www.helioslondon.com - you can buy creams/ointments in 50g to 500g sizes and much cheaper than Nelsons/Weleda). The first patches of eczema that ever appeared were on his face and were still there after a month, though not inflamed, so we went back and got a more potent remedy. Up to this point I hadn't used any HC but I have used that recently on his face, so hence I can't say for sure. However, he is clear on his body and most of his face... at the moment.
