help with coeliac disease

Help! I need to educate myself quickly about coeliac disease.

There will be a new friend spending time in my house and I will need to feed this (young) person quite frequently. I prefer to cook home made meals but also occasionally use prepared stuff and shortcuts. e.g.I make a lot of soup and have just discovered stock cubes are a no-no! Shock

This person has really severe coeliac so I have to be very vigilant and I am so ignorant about it.

What do I need to watch out for on ingredients lists? Are there sneaky pitfalls to watch out for? Any suggestions for suitable teenage food are welcome.

Going out for the day but I will check in later. Thank you for any help.

I think Pom bear crisps are GF. m and s do lots of GF crisps/ tortillas.

SpeckledyBanana · 23/10/2016 22:21

Is that because of the factory environment, Duck?

Lots of bought popcorn is GF too- just check the label.

popcorn could be fine, but in all farming the mashinery is used for all crops. so check the label/coeliac.uk.

Some of the Aldi crisps are gf.

I use potato waffles as "bread" for burgers

Some coeliacs react to maltodextrin - ask him if he does (we do)

Hi- don't worry lots of crisps are gf- just be careful to read the label. Think a lot of own brand ones are and Aldi do quite a few, as someone else said. Think few of kettles and tyrells flavours are gf. Quite a few popcorn are, as are many tortilla chips.
Yep- think it's factory environment.
