Has anyone please got any experience or information of milk allergies.

My DS 3 who was 1 on December 21st was breastfed to 5 months, then had SMA Gold until 1 year and until last week was quite happy on cows milk.

We have all had tummy bugs since Christmas Day , it was a nasty bug but was only 24 hours.

Since then DS cannot drink any milk at all, tried going back to SMA Gold and that did not work either. As soon as he drinks it he throws it back up. He is eating fine and holds his food down.

He is now drinking juice or water and seems to hold it down.

Thats it really, worried about giving him anysort of dairy products, but thinking about what he ate today, he had butter on his toast and that was ok.

Dont really know what to do in the future, will he have this for ever??

Thanks in advance.

Well, often, with cows milk allergy/intolerance, the more 'processed' a cows milk product is, the less likely to cause irritation. I think its to do with reducing the lactose as it goes along or breaking down the fat molecules. So, milk straight from the fridge - still upsets my dd a bit, but she can eat yoghurts and cheese. (I am contemplating cutting them out again though as she is SO much better on goats and sheeps milk products anyway which have smaller lactose/fat molecules or somethin).

Remove cows milk from his diet for a few weeks and see how it goes. This will mean reading ALL packaging very carefully - they still milk/whey powder in LOADS of things. But, try him on soya milk, goats milk/cheese/yoghurts etc.

goats milk and especially sheeps milk products actually taste nicer in many respects.

Thanks for the advice VVV, going to be a new thing for me.

Have got a really good shop round the corner which has a lot of food for different allergies so will go and have a chat with them.

Hi been to doctors today, she wants me to take a poo sample and keep him off all dairy products till Monday and then slowly reintroduce him.

Am doing him cottage pie tonight, got to remember no milk or butter in the mash.

God I hope I dont have to do this full time, one more thing to add on the list of what needs to be thought about.
