psoriasis creams and breastfeeding

My baby hates the smell taste of zeroderm creams I've been given by the doctor, won't feed after I apply it and screams the place down. Cant use any steroid creams because I'm feeding, does anyone know any variations/ brands of the grease I can ask for if I go back? Need something as my skin is bleeding quite frequently atm. Please no old wives tales or sales pitches, I hate it when people start to tell me their second cousin bathed in honey for a week or some such nonsense. Just genuine creams other people have succeeded in feeding with? Anything that doesn't smell like paint would be a good start

Sounds like you need aqueous cream (or any basic ointment or oil such as coconut) and use it continuously. Don't let it dry, keep on applying so that the skin can go soft to stop cracking and bleeding.

I have psoriatic arthritis and when my skin gets like that I need to soften it up before any medicated creams work anyway.

Where is the psoriasis? Are you getting plenty of sunlight to it? Can you ask your gp/dermo for uv treatment. I had a course whilst breastfeeding to help control flare ups. Might be an option if available to you.

Oh and you won't get old wives tales from me. Pisses me off! Anyone who tells me to stop eating tomatoes or any such 'helpful' suggestions can piss right off.

Haha, yes I know, and its always where you cant escape and have to smile politely. Its just rude, you wouldn't go up to someone going bald and start to suggest how to cure it, why is it 'helpful' with skin conditions?
Thanks for the tip with the coconut oil / uv, its everywhere (including my breasts) which is the problem, just gone nuts and my clothes are rubbing all the time. The zeroderm is an aqueous cream and feels amazing, but smells awful and I'd guess tastes worse (poor baby). I'm trying to be selective with where I apply it, and use Vaseline around my torso and arms. Oil might taste better to her at least. The gp said to come back after a couple of weeks and he'd ask for help as he didn't know what to suggest beyond the zeroderm :s

I've had psoriasis for years & had similar isdues whilst bf. I decided to just use the bare minimum in as few places as possible do just picked the worst areas.

My GP prescribed steroid creams whilst i was bf. Again i used as little as possible.

I used (and use) a brilliant emollient called Doublebase. And Balneum bath / washing solution.

Can I echo the hatred of the 'Try eating celery instead of cheese' brigade. It's a serious auto-immune problem not a bloody picnic.
