dd1 saw dermatologist today. he is now saying she DOESNT have atopic ezcema, but dd2 is showing classic signs of atopic ezcema. dd1 now has seborrhoeic ezcema which is linked to migraines. (dont ask me, i have no idea). i know when she was seen at around 18months she was showing signs of two types of ezcema, atopic and seborrhoeic, but now the atopic i more or lessw gone. but her allergy speciaalist has said she is a typical atopic child, with ezcema, asthma, hayfever allergies etc. but dermo has said her allergies should hopefully not be too severe. confused yet? i know i am.

what is the difference between the two types of excema misdee?

seborrhoeic is linked to cradle cap, the patches are different in dd1 case. if she had atopic ezcema she would have it on the creases of elbows, knees, etc. seborroeic shows itself in other patches, more circular and flakey, and also on the eyelids.
dd2 has classic atopic atm, on the creases of her arms, knees, and below the neck. hers is very dry and scaley as opposed to flakey. seborrhoeic ezcema may need treatment with anti-fungal creams as well as emulysifyers. which could explain why we dont get the best results with emulysifyers alone. dd1 has now been given canasten HC as well. it was a very intersting, if not confusing, appointment yesterday. As we have the atopic under control as much as possible, and have tried to avoid allergens (we have laminate floor, special bedding, blinds instead of curtains in dd1 room etc) then all we have to deal with now is the seborrhoeic. dd1 also has lovely soft smooth skin between patches of ezcema, in atopic ezcema the whole of the skin tends to be dry (papery like feel to it)
