finally got round to taking dd2 to hv about the minor rash she sometimes gets on her face and her a-bit-runny nose

think she might have a milk allergy - dh did when he was little

anyway hv said it's possible she's not allergic to yogurt cos of some great scientific pallaver but has referred me to the dietitician at the hospital

in the meantime I have to buy this Cow and Gate Pepti stuff instead of cows' milk but it's FOURTEEN QUID for an itsy little tin

can't I try goats milk or something in the meantime? It's not like it's killing her; it's a minor reaction, that's all.

(I don't like my hv much by the way, she always seems to be desperately trying to rush you out of the office)

can't she give it too you on perscription?? (or get the Dr's to sign)
sorry not much help otherwise...

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 13:49

you'd have thought so, wouldn't you?

but she just said 'ooh, and looks like she's due for a jab', stuck it in and threw me out onto the street (well, maybe exaggerating a little)

can't remember how old she is?

you could try goat's milk or soya milk if it's only for a few weeks to see if the rash goes away

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 13:57

she'll be two in January

hv said too young for soya

the wysoy stuff (must be cheaper than £14)

Rummum · 30/11/2006 14:02

If I remember correctly they can have soya as a main drink from the age of 2.... (as in soya cartons not wysoy)...

moondog · 30/11/2006 14:04

Why does she have to have milk at all?
I wouldn't bother-not at that price anyway!

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 14:05

she likes milk

she comes downstairs in the morning going 'mik! mik!'

moondog · 30/11/2006 14:05

Ah......

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 14:06

and believe me, if you try to fob her off with 'joos' she'll tell you about it

OP posts:
moondog · 30/11/2006 14:06

I can't think she's too young for soya!
For Gawd's sake, they do soya formula!

foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 14:06

she won't like the taste capp - all non-milk milk iyswim tastes foul

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 14:08

I dunno

am new to all this nonsense

I saw goats milk and it looked okay.... it had Anthony Worrall Thompson on it and he said his three-year-old had a dairy allergy and liked it

surely he would know?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 14:08

sorry, should have explained, wysoy is the formula soya stuff suitable for under 2s

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 14:08

fox I'm not averse to adding powdered pink

dd1 only drinks pink things

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 14:09

oh yes goat's milk prob the nearest to normal milk

I meant the soya formula or that cow and gate pepti really do taste foul (we had to use nutramigen and it actually smells of sick yuckkk)

Cappuccino · 30/11/2006 14:12

do they tend to be allergic to goats' as well if they are to cows'?

dd was allergic to the lot at the time but as pitchounette said, there's no telling what other allergies could be there (I mean your dd's could be an intolerance rather than an allergy, you just don't know yet!).

I would just try whatever's easiest for you to get and what dd is most likely to drink!
