Could this be lactose intolerance?

My DD has been suffering daily stomach pains for months now. They are especially painful after eating, for about an hour. The first gp we saw thought it was constipation and the second thought it was ibs. She is now having fybogel and lactulose twice a day. Last night she had macaroni cheese, yoghurt and lactulose and was in agony crying for about 90 minutes. She also has other health problems associated with a brain disorder she was born with including being overweight, premature puberty and recently had a blood test which indicated an underactive thyroid although they want to retest in a few months. She is 12 years old. It's definitely not appendix as she had that removed last year.
She doesn't have any diarrhoea or vomiting with the pains, if anything she is constipated. But she has only ever actually vomited once in her life when she had the gangrenous appendix. Any ideas? We had a paediatric appointment in 2 weeks but that is for something else (bedwetting). Thanks for any help.

I would keep a food diary. It could be related to wheat and/or dairy or something else. Re: dairy, it could be lactose related (the sugar in the milk ) or it could be related to the cows milk protein.

Sounds just like my reaction to wheat. However does sound like dairy intolerance.

So it is possible to have a dairy intolerance without diarrhoea? And for the pain to start within minutes of eating dairy? Sorry for the stupid questions - it's all completely new to me. I tried to avoid dairy for her today but haven't succeeded. She had milk on her cereal this morning and had mild discomfort, no dairy at lunch and no problems (but she is often okay in the daytime) and has just had her dinner which had a small amount of cheese in it and she says the pains are starting.

Did she have wheat today too? If she had both milk and wheat then it could be either causing a problem. Why do you think it might be milk?

Have one day of zero dairy, and another of zero wheat. And log all her reactions.

It could be wheat it was just the extreme reaction to last night's dinner that got me thinking it was dairy. I haven't tried excluding foods yet as I wanted to give the doctor's prescriptions time to work first, but they don't seem to have made any difference. I'll try a food diary and excluding foods to see if that helps.
