dd1 had a bad reaction to anti biotics today given for tonsilitus. she had a high temp, blood blister type spots have appeared on her cheeks, she was throwing up and was very listless. took her to the gp who stopped the anti biotics and have to go back tomorrow if she is no better.

Poor her, misdee. That's the thing with antibiotics though....excellent as they can be, some just don't agree with certain people. Hopefully there will be a noticeable improvement by tomorrow and the GP may be able to offer an alternative that will help her.

as she has numerous non-identified allergies, i worry everytime they introduce new anti-biotics. this is the 2nd time in 3weeks she has had tonsilitus, as she had amoxyicillin last time, they gave her erythromycin this time, never had it b4, so as soon as she went downhill after the 1st dose, i knew something wasnt right. she was also complaining of neck aches and head aches, and her eyes hurt, so had to take her down the emergency clinic.

My DD has had several courses of various antibiotics in her short life (turned 2 last Saturday). The first dose of penicillin (amoxycillin) caused no reaction but the second dose saw her covered from head to toe in a nasty looking rash. The doctor said it was likely to be an allergy developing and so she is now recorded as being allergic to penicillin-type antibiotics. She seems perfectly fine, however, with other types of antibitocs to date.
