IBS and painkillers

After initially being told I had gastroenteritis I was diagnosed with IBS when the symptoms didn't let up at all for 2 months. I've seen a gastroentorologist and I'm waiting for an endoscopy in a few weeks.
The last couple of months I'd got a handle on it and worked out my trigger food is wheat. So I've been on a wheat free diet and been relatively ok until today. I've had ongoing toothache issues since Jan which are still unresolved and my symptoms today have been awful and I'm wondering if it could be linked to the ibuprofen and paracetamol I took yesterday? I've not eaten anything else which would trigger symptoms this bad and the last time they were this bad was when I was taking a lot of painkillers.
Does anyone else react this way? And if so any tips?
I've got to go to a consultant dentist appointment I've been waiting for 3 months to get but at the moment I can't get off the loo

My daughter has IBS, lactose intolerant and has Coeliac Disease so similar. She can take calpol (paracetamol) fine and iboprofen so long as its not on an empty stomach. Neither of them contain gluten (wheat). Are you sure you haven't eaten something with wheat, it gets everywhere or eaten food which may have been contaminated with wheat? For pain, have you tried buscopan? It's an effective anti spasmodic.

Thanks nameless. Definitely not eaten anything containing wheat. These symptoms although similar to the ones when I eat wheat feel completely different. Without going into too much detail () the diarrhea is different, cramping is in a different part of my stomach to normal, aching all over with a particularly sore back. It just seems too much of a coincidence that both times I've taken painkillers I've felt like this the next day and on this occasion the day after as well. Even when I've managed to accidently

Even when I've accidentally eaten wheat I've not felt like this the next day. Starting to wonder if I've picked up a bug.
Hoping I'll feel better tomorrow as I'm meant to be going away for the weekend

How do you feel now? Hope you got away. I have to manage the bad times with immodium or immodium plus, have you tried those they work pretty quickly? I am going to try the low fodmaps diet next as getting more attacks these days.

Ibuprofen can trigger microscopic colitis, a syndrome that's only diagnosable via biopsy.

You should also ask your doc about Bile Acid Malabsorption - research shows its responsible for 1/3 IBS cases especially if you also have celiac disease or other inflammatory issues, it's easily treatable but massively under diagnosed

It's the ibuprofen. It's in a class of drug called NSAIDS which cause damage to the lining of your gut. Do not take NSAIDS if you have IBS it will damage the lining of your gut further.

Wheat free is a really good start but you could consider going grain, sugar and dairy free. It has literally changed my life and I was very very poorly.

Research leaky gut. IBS is the symptom of a wider gut flora issue.

I agree, it's the ibuprofen! I'm the exact same when I take them, it took me 5 years to realise!

Have you been tested for coeliac before going wheat free? You really really should have been?

I have ulcerative colitis a form of Inflammatory bowel disease, similar to IBS but with blood and mucus. I found out on a IBS/IBD website not to take any NSAIDs including ibuprofen and aspirin, annoyed that my consultant never warned me, just told me to google it I once took one out of desperation because paracetamol wasn't touching my pain and the following day I had a flare up in my symptoms.

What I did to myself by taking ibuprofen. Just horropibke.

I've been painkiller free for two years but I'm still suffering the effects.

I will heal my body though. I'm determined too.
