How to make sure dairy free toddler gets enough calcium. She only drinks 200ml enriched chocolate coconut a day

And a small amount of soya yogurt. I'm really worried about her calcium intake. Does anyone have any calcium rich meal or snack ideas?

Tofu and sesame seeds

Thank you for the extra ideas! I will switch to the 50/50 bread Smile I will try some cereals to snack in too, I am still searching for that orange juice

The orange juice we had was Tropicana - there is a particular variety of Tropicana with a sort of blue emblem on the label which says Tropicana Calcium or something like that. It was a bit expensive for a 1 litre bottle or so, but I just made sure DD had one good glass of it each morning so I was not just letting everyone drink it all the time! I think it is sold at most supermarkets - I got it at Sainsburys and I am sure Tescos have it too. The bread we got was Best of Both but you can look at the labels to see which has the added calcium.

I'd suggest making anything and everything you can that contains usually contains milk - i.e. pancakes for brekkie, bread and butter (well, ok, marg) pudding, rice pudding, custard, lasgana (with df cheese, obvs) etc. Bit of a phaff having to make everything, but you'd perhaps been able to batch make and freeze? And if you know (roughly) how much milk is in each portion, you'd be able to keep an eye on how much LO is getting?

Sesame and tahini also contains calcium, will LO eat that? Otherwise lots of nuts are good - almond, brazil, peanuts, also baked beans and dried figs/apricots/raisins (although these are not good for teeth, 'cos very sticky - nature's toffee our dietitian called it). Bread is good too.

Hope this helps!

Ocado stock the added calcium Tropicana. Also, you could consider oat milk as an alternative (naturally sweet without added sugar). There is an added calcium version of this too.

I make white sauce with fortified oat milk and vitality/pure, then add chicken or salmon and veg (peas, broccoli, carrots and frozen chopped spinach). Remarkably, is one of DS's favourite meals if I serve with rice or pasta. Sometimes I even put a pastry lid on it (jus rol puff is dairy free) amd call it chicken pie. Have fooled DS1, who isn't dairy free, into eating it that way too!

We ended up giving a daily supplement. it was too stressful trying to press foods DS kept rejecting!

Coming to this late as I was going to post a really similar question. DD is 18 months and I don't think she's getting enough calcium. I've just made banana custard with soya milk and she rejected it. Will be trying rice pudding tomorrow but don't want to rely on sweet stuff too much. Fish pie with the white sauce made from pure spread and a mixture of koko and soya milk (just what I happened to have in the house) went down well.

One question for the experts out there, I bought soya cheese as advised by the dietitian (Tesco freefrom) only to discover that it isn't fortified with any calcium. Can you get an alternative with calcium?

Sorry, rushing a bit, on my phone and kids in the bath, but really glad to have found this thread. Some great ideas that I'll try on here.

I've just been to my local sainsburys and checked my Tesco online app and both are now stocking the calcium Tropicana, on offer in sainsburys so I've bought a couple.

I'm a bit confused about rda advice, I've checked a few websites and found from 350 - 700mg advised, is it different for different countries?
