I need some help on whether to take my ds 6mths to the doctors. He's had green poo on and off/pretty much since he was born, was told this can be normal. It's always been watery/moucous. I didn't worry to much he's gaining weight, happy, sleeps amazingly.

He's always been a bit sticky so on health visitors advice put him on comfort formula at 8weeks but stopped that at about 16 weeks as made little difference.

I started weaning him really slowly at 20 weeks as he stopped sleeping though again on advice from health visitor. By 24weeks he was having 2 meals a day but his poos became explosive the more he ate. I stopped all food about 2 weeks ago unsure what to do. His poo is still green but now has no rhythm to them.

After sitting up all night googling I've realised he has a lip tie and maybe an intollerance? Does any of this sound familiar, any advice? I'm unsure what to do now.

Hi I would definitely say food intolerance. My dd had green, runny, explosive, mucousy nappies. Green can be normal, yes, but it's the mucus which is the giveaway as it's a sign the gut is irritated. I think the cough and runny nose is significant too.

I cut out dairy and soya (am bf) and the horrible nappies disappeared. I reintroduced them again and the bad nappies came back so I stopped eating them again.

I would ask your gp to try nutramigen or neocate. If they won't prescribe you could buy a tin from the chemist and if it makes a difference go back to the gp armed with this info. Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you for replying. As he's such a happy baby i hadn't realise how bad it actually is, I will make an appointment on Monday morning with the gp.

Good luck at the gp. Trust your instincts, I knew my dd wasn't right but everyone kept saying green mucousy nappies were normal.

I took ds to GP today and was given a prescription for nutramigen, chemist have to order it in so can't pick up till tomorrow. Gp didn't seem to concerned it was cmpa as hes thriving and mostly happy just said to try this. I've done some reading up and lots of people have said it gives green watery poo? But ds main problem is green watery/mucous poo, how am I ment to know if it's making a difference?
