My 1 year old scratch her skin a lot, shoulders, neck, bottom, legs, chin, chest and when we are taking out pamper then on vaginal area. It started about 2 months ago and then gradually getting severe.
She feels really very irritated when she started to scratch.
Normally what I observed this happens after we are feeding her, I breast feed her as well, but just to make her sleepy, not milk bottle feeding.
So what she is eating -> crushed boiled potatoes, cooked chicken, (of course) very small pieces, Kasha, Yogurt, Nestle Crelac.
From yesterday we stopped all milk products to her (Yogurt..), but she still scratched.
We changed her pampers as well, 3 brands, but this didn't make her calm, we are not tightening her pampers and wearing loose clothes to her.
Also we are very careful, washing and changing her pampers right after her she do poop.
Our home environment is not hot, moderate temperature, we are in Auckland. There are no bedbugs in our home.
We consulted with doctors, applying cream 1% hydrocortisone, but this doesn't much either.
There are no signs of eczema on her skin, its getting red after she scratch or due to allergic reaction after food.

I checked on internet and read many posts

1:allergic to wheat, eggs and peanuts (milk, dairy, citrus, nuts- these are big ones)
yes she is taking wheat products and apple, no eggs/peanuts/milk/nuts, we will try to stop wheat for couple of days and check after effects.

2: check out for soap, cream during washing, don't use them better.
We are just washing her off with water now

3: change brand of pampers, and don't make it tight, let the air go inside to make it dry
yes we changed 3 brands, this doesn't help.

4: cut her nails every 2 days so she will not hurt her skin, scratching of vagina and bleeding there can cause emergency.
yes we always take care it

5: use 1% hydrosortisone cream twice a day.
using it from couple of days

6: check her after each washing, clean poop and urine right after.
regularly doing it since birth

7: better if she is sleeping then take out pampers for a while and let her sleep with out pampers over water proof cover.
we don't do this normally she sleeps in pampers.

8: allow her to dry for 10-20 minutes before pampers.
yes we make sure that her skin is dry every where before wearing pampers.

9: tight-fitting, footed pajamas are one of the possible cause of vaginal irritation in babies.
10: allow your daughter to sleep in loose clothing.
yes we always wear her loose clothes

11: if her vagina is getting red and immediately consult with doctor, this can be the start of infection.
There are no such signs!

Does any one has similar symptoms, what to do please suggest!!!>

Have you thought of putting her in terry nappies or regular kids underwear? Sometimes the "absorbent" stuff they put in nappies can be irritating. At 1, she should be potty training anyway so why not try it. You might want to think about weaning her off the breast and giving her a sippy cup if the breast is not for milk. Also hydrocortisone even at 0.00001% on a one year old hmmmm???????

kasimsf, if you are breastfeeding, you not only need to cut out the dairy, eggs, etc from her diet, but also from yours as it can pass through the breastmilk. It's not the case for everyone, but in severe cases you need to do both.

If it is eczema then hydrocortisone, if prescribed is a fast and effective treatment. People panic about it but it is justified as can clear the eczema fast. Of. It working see GP again.

Both of mine had baby eczema but have grown out of it thank god. At the time was hellish. Doc gave us those bandage suits, leggings and a too, that completely covered them. Put on thick emollient at night, bandage suit on top and it helped a lot. Piriton at the correct dose helps too.

Lagoonablue · 12/04/2015 18:12

Btw I know she doesn't seem to have eczema but she may have. The bandage suits break the itch, scratch, itch cycle.

BTW Wu, potty training at 1? Really?

dementedpixie · 12/04/2015 18:23

No a 1 year old would not normally be potty training. could you try a brand that is not pampers? it could be a yeast infection- have you tried anti fungal cream?

thank you!!! for all your suggestion, so after we took oatmeal/apple/banana/all milk products/yogurt she is not scratching any more.

So what we are feeding her: celeriac, cooked meal [rice, potato, broccoli, chicken pieces], goat meat soup.

after watch days 3-4, we are going to give her banana first and then continue with apple and milk products after till we know what exactly she is allergic to..... I am sure oat meal is the one nasty culprit here. ;)

please pm me if some one needs any suggestions may be I can be able to help others.

no hydro cortisone, never ever !!!
