Many thanks in advance.

To clarify, the asthma is very mild (not really sure whether he has it or not, in fact), but the hayfever isn't, and really affects his functioning sometimes Sad

Ds has just finished 3 years of desensitisation. Had been given ventolin due to wheeze during hay fever season but ok the rest of the time. Had lung function before he started treatment. Was very difficult to begin with with quite extreme reaction to treatment but soon settled down and results have been truly amazing. Good luck

Is this available on the NHS?

Dappymummy · 29/03/2015 21:33

Yes. Had to really push for it as our Drs surgery was not interested. Paid to see a good private specialist who then referred us to St Thomas' and prescribed Grazax on NHS. Had to then get our own GP practice to agree to pick up the cost of the prescription. He was only 5 at the time.

Dappy, that's brilliant. How reactive would say he is now?

Dappymummy · 30/03/2015 19:11

He was very severe. He started at the age of 2 and basically his life was miserable between May and August. On high days we had to keep him inside even with daily citirizine. Even people coming into the house who had been in a grassy area would set him off. Our house gets very hot in summer as it faces south so in desperation we actually paid for air conditioning to put in as we couldn't open any windows at night and our house was like an oven. This year he actually sat on the school sports fields and took part in sports day which was amazing to see. He still needs to use antihistamines every day in the summer but it doesn't have such impact on his life anymore.

Dappy, that's a great result, I'm really glad it worked for your LO

@Dappymummy not sure if you were still on here but we just started Grazax and my daughter's not had a great reaction to it. There's not a lot of info about it (from people not the medical profession) and just wondered how long it took the effects to settle down? Thanks!

Somethingsosimple · 16/01/2020 15:14

Hello @Junipertree yes my son had a terrible reaction to start with. He would vomit and feel very poorly. We had to give him piriton 30 minutes before and then start with a quarter of tablet at a time at that helped. He gradually built over time to the full side without piriton. Pm if you need anymore info x

Sorry I have a new name now!

Junipertree · 16/01/2020 20:50

Thank you so much for the info @Somethingsosimple ! I will pm you with a few questions if you don’t mind. But The idea of cutting the tabs in quarters might be a good start - none of the doctors suggested that one. Plus the antihistamine...
