Lactofree milk, cheese for one year old

DS (15 months) seems to have developed a (hopefully temporary) lactose intolerance after a rather severe tummy bug more than a month ago. He's OK on the Lactofree branded milk, cheese etc. Does anyone know if it's OK to give him this long-term? I'm still bfing, but would like to cut that right back/stop altogether in the coming weeks/months. HV suggested soya/oat milk, but I'm concerned they don't contain enough nutrients and fat, and she seemed a bit clueless about Lactofree stuff, even though she said she was lactose intolerance herself Hmm.

I would choose lactofree over soya/oat milk. I would maybe try him occasionally with normal products though. Cheeses have lower lactose levels than milk so you could try reintroducing them first.

My DS ate it from 6mo without problems. I didn't notice anything but positive effects.

And YY to Demented, hard cheese has the least so that's usually the first thing they start to tolerate. We put parmesan in pasta.

Also, sorry for drip feeding, but from 1 they can have alpro 1+ soy milk. It's lower in sugar than the regular and fortified. Alternatively unsweetened soya with a bit of Apple juice and some multi vit's does the same job.

Thanks all. I think I've been overthinking it! And thanks for the tip on hard cheeses first. Fingers crossed.

My DD has been lactose intolerant since birth, she loves all the lacto free stuff only thing is that the calcium content is lower.
I've noticed that she's slowly growing out of the intolerance, she still can't have a glass of milk or ice cream but everything else she tolerates well. I don't know wether this is helpful but on advice I introduced yoghurt first when I was ready to trial her on lactose containing products again, she never had a problem with them
