have you tried eucerin that's really good, not sure if it has liquid paraffin in it though.

Both my sister and brother are allergic to Vaseline. They have psoriasis and coeliac disease. Quite a lot of creams are liquid parafin based. They use Aloe Vera (the real thing). There are only two plants that are safe and I am afraid to say I don't know the proper names. They also drink it in a modified form. They have found this to be very beneficial. The company they get this from is called Forever Living, which is an American based company but also has a base in the UK. You could google it. HTH

Lizearle.com sells a product called superbalm which is meant to be really good for people with eczema (no personal experience). None of her products have any paraffin in them and they are lovely. Good luck, hope you find something that works soon, it sounds like you have had a tough time. x

An alternative approach is chickweed, but I'm not sure about the base for the cream. You'd have to ask at an apothecary. You can also put oats in a cloth bag and put them in the bath, soothes and treats eczema. I try to use natural remedies and altenative medicine where possible for my dd eczema. (which is now practically non existent).

I sought help via professional alternative practitioners btw didn't just try anything

Rickman, as far as I know you need to go to your GP to get a referral to a specialist. If your LO is getting such a reaction I would recommend that you see your GP for that referral and while you're waiting to see the specialist you could continue to find something that would suit your LO.

I think I'm out of my depth here Rickman, but I remember a homeopath making a lot of fuss about why I should avoid parafin. She recommended a cream (I'll try to find it, I'm not sure about the name) that worked well but considering it came in small tubes it was too expensive for the amount we used per day.

In terms of testing... I have not come accross with a test for specific E numbers yet. I don't know how long it will take for a dermatologist to see her but, if she is OK with Aveeno so far, what may use it as necessary (several times a day I guess) for about 2 weeks, then try again the Diprobase in a small area and see what happens.

Is she still taking the antibiotics?

I found it... Calendula Cream Although, I have to say that I didn't have much faith in this particular homeopath

Eucerin has different presentations, the one that has 10% Urea has liquid paraffin but the Eucerin "Calming Cream" hasn't. However, it shouldn't be applied on infected or open skin.

One of ds's excema creams has sodium laryeth sulphate (not sure about spelling) in it which is known to aggrevate excema! I only worked it out when I realised that my hands went itchy and horrid after putting his cream on him.

Sorry nothing more constructive to say but hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

The antibiotics could help quite a lot, so fingers crossed this problem is about to finish. I have posted in your other thread, keep us posted.
