How old does a child need to be to have reliable allergy testing?

Ds is almost 2 and he's intolerant to cmp definitely , still can't tolerate me eating one biscuit containing dairy so minimal amounts still affect him. Is ok with soya now though.
He also has v sore bum (bright red/blisters) if he eats anything containing oranges although orange flavouring seems fine. Hmm
Now he's reacting to something that's he's eaten , face gets bright red/sore where it's touched him. I've been comparing ingredients and it's something added. Possibly paprika but not clear on that.
He's also still getting eczema although this is much improved.

I'm interested to know too oddbrain - have similar issues with my DS

My ds was 4 when he was tested for a huge amount of allergies by the NHS - arranged by his senior asthma a consultant. I'm not sure if they test dairy allergies but possibly.

I know it's a long slog but start with your Gp and push for it.

I wouldn't trust many allergy testing places. Everyone I know whose used them seem to be allergic to gluten and dairy. It's just too big a part of a diet to cut out without medical help.

Sorry if this is not what you mean.

The dairy actually isn't that worrying. He's likely to grow out of it. It's the contact allergy that bothers me

DS and DD were both allergy tested at 6 months old. The results were accurate.

Mine was tested (privately) at 9 months with skin prick and blood tests and they were reliable results, but this is after having many reactions that I'd discerned at home, they then tested all foods in the same family as the definite reactions.

Did you read the news alerts about the contaminated paprika? It could have almond or peanut flour in.

sunabroad · 25/02/2015 13:01

DD had tests at 6 months and they were accurate.

He's fine with almond milk and peanut butter so don't think nuts are the problem.
